If I were you try a toner first if not change the hair dye and if it still wont get rid of the ginger tinge then definately spend that money at the hairdressers lol luckily I managed to fix mine I.

I would suggest you use Wella 1211 which is a special ash blonde along with 12 peroxide and put a plastic cap over your head - no heat. Purple shampoo and conditioner can tone down the yellow ginger but for it to really make a difference your hair probably needs to be lifted to a lighter blonde.
If you used Colour B4 to remove a brown light brown or dark blonde hair dye your hair could turn ginger. From what you say I imagine you were trying to go a bit lighter and the bleach element of the dye hasnt lifted it enough so its yellowy ginger. I dyed my auburn hair blonde.

Thats the predominant underlying color in these shades. This is the quickest fix and will take care of those orange roots right away. Leave it in for 10-20 minutes.
Also if you have been coloring your hair for many years it is more difficult to remove the hair dye pigments. It was always a gingery colour for the 1st week or so - then went to a nice shade for 3 weeks or so - before the dark roots appeared. Maybe she wants blonde and not ginger or red.
Toner works immediately so you should be careful not to leave it in your hair. I put a dark dye on it to try and get it back but only made it worse and brighter ginger. Your natural colour might have gold or copper undertones in your which could be the reason your roots have come out ginger.
